Cyclones denied at Christ Covenant

Trailing by three goals early in Tuesday’s match at Christ Covenant, the Community Christian boys soccer team rallied but fell a goal shy of tying the score in a 3-2 loss.

Pierce Stone triggered the rally by challenging balls and making pushes toward the goal before Abner Martinez finally broke through on a pass by Ethan Barnes in the 68th minute.

Four minutes later, Connor Ferguson stuck in an unassisted goal to cut the lead to one. Despite several shots on goal over the final eight minutes, CCS couldn’t get the equalizer to fall.

Carlos Ventura totaled 10 saves in goal for CCS.

The loss dropped the Cyclones of head coach Christian Bullard to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association play. They are off until Thursday, Sept. 14, when they visit Bethel Christian in Kinston.
