Hi! My name is Lisa Zeggert and I am the High School Creative Arts and Worship Arts Teacher here at Community Christian School. I have been teaching for a long time but have found CCS to be a place where I can be free to teach my love for music and the arts and also my love of Christ.
I began my career in education at Corriher-Lipe Middle School in Landis, NC where I taught 6th Grade General Music and 7th and 8th Grade Chorus.
I only taught there for one year when I decided to move to the Kannapolis City School System where I taught at three different elementary schools for the next 5 years. I later moved back to my hometown and secured a job with the Mooresville Graded School District. I taught K-6 General Music in Mooresville, NC for 8 more years.
In 2007, I moved to Tennessee and began teaching for the Johnson County School System in Mountain City. I taught High School Chorus and Theater Arts. I was blessed to be a part of a community that fostered the arts and had a well established theater department. Under my direction, the Johnson County High School Players performed many musicals and plays. I was also director of Johnson County Young Artists and was involved in Johnson County Community Theater.
I have had a total of 21 years experience teaching in public school and hold a BA in Music from Mars Hill College near Asheville, NC and a Teacher Certification from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, NC.
My husband, Andy Zeggert, and I moved to the Wilson area in 2014 and I began teaching at CCS in August of 2015. I have two sons, Brad Harris, 21 who attends college and lives in Boone, NC and Matthew Harris,16, a junior at CCS.
In the summer of 2007, Andy and I, along with Brad and Matt, started an outreach ministry in the mountains of Tennessee. Old Mill Ministries still continues today. Below is my favorite verse and is the inspiration for our ministry:
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives...Isaiah 61:1
