Just a little bit about your first grade teacher...Teaching has been such a big part of my life! I wanted to teach even when I was a little girl. It is more of a calling for me as I know this is what God's plan has been. I grew up in Wilson and attended Atlantic Christian College (Barton College). I have a four year degree in Psychology and a four year degree in Elementary Education. I am certified in NC for K-6th. I am Nationally Board Certified in Elementary Education also. I have had many hours of workshops dealing with teaching academically gifted children, children with learning issues
, and children with autism.
I began my career in Wilson where I taught at Wells Elementary for 18 years.I taught second grade, first grade and also multiage (kindergarten, first and second graders). From there I moved to teach in Wake County at Lockhart in Knightdale. I taught 11 years at Lockhart. I taught first grade and second grade as well as combinations of kindergarten, first and second.
As my parents began to need me more I decided to return to Wilson. I worked at Jones Elementary for 3 years before retiring.I taught first grade and looped up with that class to second. I was retired about three weeks when God opened this door at Community Christian. I am beginning my fourth year here at CCS. I feel as if I have come home! My children attended CCS when the doors first opened! My two oldest are alumni of CCS!
The year before I began teaching I married Wade Tomlinson from Wilson County. I moved from being a city girl to a country girl as he was a farmer. We have four awesome children! We have identical twin girls, a daughter, and a son. My family has grown from four to eight as my children have grown up. I am also a Grandmother of 8 wonderful little ones! All of my children and grandchildren are living close to us and what a blessing they are!
